Who here came from Democratic Underground and why?

I posted for almost ten years on DU. After the 2008 primaries, the site turned into a hellhole with Obama supporters spewing venom at anyone who didn't tow the Administrators line. Last January the admins started deleting every thread I started within minutes. Obviously they were following orders from above. I had always been careful to walk the fine line with the rules, I always donated. I was sort of a 'Heckle and Jeckyl' to the sycophants, pointing out their contradictions and meanness towards anyone who didn't automatically follow Obama's positions. I did so carefully staying in the bounds of the rules, which I had been doing for years.

Repeatedly I was told by Obama sycophants that they were, 'center right,' so I would ask them, 'the center right is occupied by the GOP, which Republican policies do you support?' The sycophants always just went away and didn't answer the question. Apparently speaking truth to power has no place with Obama supporters.

I started a thread in the 'ask the admins' forum in which I asked Skinner why I was being systematically targeted by the powers that be. I provided screen shots to prove what I was saying. I would post a thread, (controversial or innocuous...didn't matter) immediately take a screenshot (showing the time/date stamp) then when the thread disappeared a few minutes later, I would take another screen shot, showing the time stamp. I sent a bunch of these to the admins.

Skinners reaction was insulting, condescending and arrogant. He posted links to my 3 or 4 posts to threads that had been removed over the previous six months (which had nothing to do whatsoever with my situation). He then accused me of making it all up, even though I showed them multiple screenshots of irrefutable proof from a several week period in which they were going after me. That was that. The deleting of every thread I started continued unabated. Didn't matter what time of day, 6 am...deleted. 6 PM....deleted. Midnight, deleted. Obviously I was within the bounds of the rules because I was never banned. I started a thread announcing that I was leaving the party, or more accurately....the party left me by becoming right wing and the site was towing that line. Of course the thread was deleted after a few minutes. That was game over for me. I never posted there again.

I did go back and read stuff, DU has always been an awesome resource for battling the GOP. DU3 is absolutely useless as a resource. The admins decided that the exchange of ideas was secondary, and that enabling the abusive drama from Obama supporters was their new priority.

Game over for me. It saddens what happened to the site. It used to be the best resource on the net and easy to navigate and find out what is going on in the world that day, getting breaking news as it happened, etc. The owners turned The DU into a drama queen shithole.

I believe that Skinner is taking money from the Democratic party, or the White house itself. That is why they changed their donation system. They don't need donations to keep afloat like they did previously.

Fuck you skinner you egotistical right wing shithead. You sold your members out to the DLC to line your pockets.

I'm here from DU as of yesterday. I'm still looking around for a new home base, checking different sites. I see a lot of familiar names here -- I'm still not quite sure how to navigate.

DU was always the first place I went in the morning, but I do not like DU3 at all and I'm sure it's just going to get worse as the election season approaches. I had a nice time there for seven years, but it's not doing it for me now. The bots can have it.

My DU account was terminated on the weekend of September 11, 2010. I was never given a reason. I was attacked by a swarm of posters for agreeing with a post by jokerman in which he criticized Obama's latest appeasement to the GOP, whatever that was. I have been posting on Politico, Common Dreams, and a couple of other boards. I can't give Obama a pass for doing what I criticized Bush for doing.
A President, any President, who maintains that he is above the law -- and repeatedly violates the law -- thereby commits high crimes and misdemeanors.

Welcome aboard. I was banned from DU as well. I am so glad I found a site were you can speak your mind and point out the truth without being attacked or banned.

Here is the real core of why I have moved away from DU.

    I support the dream,
    DU supports the team.
The reason for the team is the dream,
so if you support the team,
when the team ignores the dream,
then you are no longer you.
You are not quite what you seem.

Here from DU also. Been there since a few months after the site opened. I wasn't booted or banned, but I had posts that were critical of Obama edited by the Admins, and swore I wouldn't donate again, which got me a rude response, so I quit outright. Don't know where I'll end up, but here I am today

    me, as of just now.

I never got banned, but I spent part of a day wandering DU3 and didn't like it much. Not sure if I'll stay here or not.

Think it's important that the liberal voting bloc have a place or places where we can talk with one another --

find one another -- and work on a Plan B. No sense any of us going off alone -- Right?

Keep us all posted where you are and where you're going -- !!

PS: I got REVOKED yesterday at DU -- but I've given them a few 100 reasons to do it in the sense of

challenging the website and it's connections to DLC -- challenging the Obama-love myths -- challenging

attempts to censor members -- and most of all on DU3 helping to challenge the censorship they were

imposing via "Soapbox," "Share your thoughts," and elimination of Latest Breaking News and Greatest.

At this point, they've had to reverse a lot of it.

I can relate. I had my morning coffee reading DU for almost a decade. What they did to the site made it useless for that purpose. The damn DU3 isn't even close to finished yet. They just couldn't contain their impulse to start up their half finished abusive drama website.

We dont want a party line crammed down our throats. We don't want to be systematically abused for not accepting 'center right' nonsense at a supposedly Democratic website.

Just saying what's your point? Who said we don't don't want a Dem President. What I don't want or accept is some 3rd way goon telling me how to be a Democrat. Any other questions?

I was banned from DU about a year ago for what I have no fucking clue and when I inquired several times as to why, all I got was the sound of crickets. I guess it's because I didn't toe the DU party line.
Fuck Skinner and his DU, I hope it goes down in flames.

    I didn't get banned and haven't been
I got sort of tired of the mud slinging from both sides of the site.
I can find many posts that went after the President and his supporters that survived
I happen to like NanceGreggs, Frenchie Cat and, to a lesser extent, ProSense.
The vitriol they got hit with is/has been/was embarrassing.
The attacks on MadFloridian for her work exposing the corruption of charter schools is/has been/was idiotic

I was permanently banned from DU about two years ago for saying that Barack Obama's torture policy was exactly the same as George W. Bush's torture policy. That's usually the way it goes over there: The first person to tell the truth gets banned. Remember the first time somebody attacked Joe Lieberman? That was a ways back.

Of course, by the time I got IP banned, I was expecting it, more or less. After the 2008 election, half of the DU community followed Barack Obama to the far right. I did not. Like most of you, I supported Barack the candidate, but quickly tired of Barack the president.

    So hello.
